Winter Hitting Program
SFYBA is pleased to announce a partnership with Goalkick Sports Center in Coon Rapids on winter hitting discounts for players in our program. This discount goes out to current players in the program as well as players who have tried out unsuccessfully in the past and players who hope to try out for the first time in the future. We hope this will be the beginning of a long-term solution that will manifest itself on the diamond for years to come. Goalkick is known primarily as a soccer training facility but also houses a baseball training area along with batting cages. Some of its baseball amenities include:
I would encourage you to browse their website (www.goalkicksoccer.org) for more information, including location and hours of operation. Here’s how the program works: Goalkick will be provided a list of all players who tried out for SFYBA teams last year. You will need to contact Goalkick in advance to reserve your tunnel times in 30 minute blocks. Do this by contacting Jason Jacob at 612-232-8535 or jasonjacob@goalkicksoccer.org and schedule your time. When you arrive at Goalkick, check in at the front desk and you will be charged a discounted single tunnel rental rate of $10/30 minutes or $20/hour. SFYBA will pay the difference. If you aren’t a current member of SFYBA and have never tried out but hope to in the future you can still take advantage of this program. On your first visit to Goalkick, give them your name and contact information and you will be able to rent at the discounted rates and can expect to receive a call from a SFYBA board member verifying that you live within the radius of District 15. Everything else is taken care of on our end, so it is just that easy to get your time in. Be aware that the rental charge for a hitting tunnel is regardless of the number of players hitting although we recommend using a ratio of one hitter for every 15 minutes to optimize your experience. You do have the option of hitting from a pitching machine or throwing live batting practice - Goalkick provides the pitching machine but it is a manual feed, so you will need a parent/guardian to do that or to throw live batting practice. Baseballs, helmets & bats are available. We hope you all will take advantage of this opportunity, which is effective immediately. If you have any questions or comments, please contact a board member. All of our contact information is located on our website at www.stfrancisbaseball.org. We are committed to the ongoing development of the players of SFYBA.
